NewWorldBuzz
is a world music internet radio station
playing select tracks from top world music
albums and selections from the latest releases.
The station also offers in-depth interviews
with established and emerging artists.
NewWorldBuzz
was created in 1993 by Martin Curti, who
was born in Pittsburgh, PA to a Spanish
mother and an Italian-American father, who
is a veteran commercial radio broadcaster.
Martin has interviewed many of world music's
biggest names, as well as its most up-and-coming
stars. Artists like Peter Gabriel, Samite,
Baaba Maal, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Omara
Portuondo, Ziggy Marley, Oliver Mtukudzi,
Thomas Mapfumo, Sierra Leone's Refugee All
Stars, Habib Koité, Azam Ali, Ladysmith
Black Mambazo, Anoushka Shankar and many
others have been featured guests of NewWorldBuzz.
In
the late-1990s, NewWorldBuzz started as
a series of monthly two-hour internet programs
carried by the World Entertainment Network,
which also featured world music shows hosted
by Charlie Gillett and Ian Anderson. In
2001, NewWorldBuzz joined the Live365 Internet
Radio Network.
Today,
NewWorldBuzz has evolved into a Top 40-style
world music format playing a variety of
traditional and contemporary music. Currently,
the station is listened to in over 80 countries
worldwide and is recognized as a major world
music outlet by the recording industry.
